General Information
- Our clients will have to have a valid passport issued by the country they are a citizen of. The computers of the Canadian Customs officers must be able to scan these passports.
- Our clients will have to have a valid visa if so required by the Canadian Government.
- Our clients will have to have medical insurance, issued by an underwriter, acceptable to the health department of the Governments of Alberta and British Columbia.
- Please check with you airline what you can bring on board your plane. This applies to checked and carry on luggage.
- You may not bring any meat products or farm produce into Canada.
Monetary Information
- The currency in Canada are Canadian dollars.
- We advise our clients to exchange some Euros into Canadian dollars before leaving Europe.
- We do not advise to bring American dollars since they may be worth less than the Canadian currency.
- Should the American dollar be worth more, banks and businesses will charge an exchange rate.
- Banks in Canada will exchange Euros at the rate of the day.
- Travelers may also use travelers cheques, Visa- Mastercard- or American Express cards. Debit cards are also accepted.
Telephone Service
- Telephone booths in the area of travel are few and far between. Our clients must not depend on them.
- We suggest that you bring your own cellular phone capable of reaching your country of origin from Canada.
- Travelers can use phones in hotel rooms, provided they leave a credit card imprint at the hotel desk. The phones in hotel lobbies can also be used.
Taxes
- All purchases in British Columbia are subject to a 7% Provincial tax and a 5% Federal tax.
- Purchases in Alberta are subject to the 5% Federal tax only. None of these taxes are refundable when our clients leave Canada.
- There are hotel taxes in various cities. These will be paid by Touristik Kanada from your tour expenses.
Tour Dates
- Tour II, "A journey from the Pacific to the Rocky Mountains," will take place in June 15 to August 31, 2010.
- All other tours will be offered from May 15 to September 30th, 2010.
Tour Possibilities
- Touristik Kanada offers tours in British Columbia and Alberta. We offer custom built tours.
- If one of our tours is not to your liking, feel free to fill out our questionnaire. Let us know, by e-mail, what your wishes are and we will provide you with a dream itinerary. Please Note:Custom itineraries require payment of $ 250.00 (two hundred fifty dollars), payable in advance.
- The prepayment will be considered a down payment once a contract is signed.
- We haved lived in British Columbia since 1957 and are familiar with all areas of the province.
Type of Tours Offered
- Our clients can choose between a tour by car, where they have to drive without a guide. An itenary will be provided and lodging will be arranged. The client will be responsible for all insurance rates
- Motorhome tours can be arranged, however the client will be responsible for the vehicle and it's contents. This includes insurance and replacement of damaged articles.
- Our strength lies in guided tours, where our clients will receive outstanding service.
Arrival in Canada
- All participants on each separate tour must arrive at the designated Canadian airport on the same day.
- All participants must purchase their own flight ticket.
- All participants should fly Frankfurt-Vancouver or Frankfurt-Calgary non stop direct.
- Participants may arrive one day late, provided they missed their plane for a valid reason.
- Regardless of the circumstances, an additional 100 dollars must be paid on arrival in Vancouver to compensate for special pick up.
- The charge for late comers in Calgary is 180 dollars.
Departure from Vancouver or Calgary
- There are airport charges both in Vancouver and Calgary. These charges are being collected by the airport authority.
- In case our clients travel agency does not collect said fee, our clients will be responsible of payment before boarding their home bound plane. Cost is between 10 and 20 dollars per person.
- Travelers must be at the airport at least three hours before flight departure time.
- Touristik Kanada will be responsible to have our clients at the airport on time.
Luggage
- Touristik Kanada follows the rules of the airlines for Economy Class, namely, one suitcase and one carry on bag per person.
- The size and weight, as part of one return ticket, is set by the airlines.
- The guided tour price will include the carrying of one suitcase from the vehicle to the hotel lobby and back.
- Carry on bags must be transported by our clients. This rule applies to guided tours only.
Entry fees
- Touristik Kanada will pay all entry fees mentioned by name and city in the signed agreement.
- Tour participants will be responsible for entry fees for exhibits, shows or side tours visited during their free time.
Free Time
- Free time is available to our clients to get away from the hectic schedule. This time should be used as an individual since group activities are a daily occurrence.
- All tour participants will receive a map of the city to be visited, with all attractions listed thereon.
- These will be valuable during free hours. Important phone numbers will also be listed.
- All expenses incurred during free time must be taken care of by our clients.
Hotels
- Whenever possible, Touristik Kanada clients will stay over night in Best Western Hotels.
- We will travel through areas rich in nature, wildlife, and mountains, where five star hotels are unheard of.
- Rates are set by the hotel chains and there usually is a surcharge for single occupancy.
- Touristk Kanada will organize two persons of the same gender to a room if so desired.
- Room costs are always higher during July and August.
- Hotel rooms will have two single or one double bed, with shower and or bath, phone, T.V. radio, and hairdryer.
- Most hotels have a swimming pool or sauna.
- The electrical current in Canada is 110 volt. If your electrical equipment is not suited for our electrical system, we advise you to bring an adapter.
Insurance
- We suggest that our clients avail themselves of trip cancellation insurance, both for the flight and the tour.
- Trip cancellation insurance is best provided to the clients by their travel agency.
- When guests of Touristik Kanada undertake activities that could be hazardous, these persons must sign a waiver if so requested by the company providing that activity.
- In no instance will Touristik Kanada be responsible in case accidents occur that are not part of the itinerary.
Medication
- If tour participants need certain medication, it is important that they bring these with them from their home country.
- Tour participants should have enough medicine for the duration of their holidays.
- Some of the medicines prescribed by foreign doctors may not be available in Canada.
- Before anyone can purchase prescription drugs, a physician has to be consulted, and paid for.
- It is also important that tourists have with them photo copies of their prescription drugs. This will avoid problems, about drugs in general, with customs officers.
Tour Costs and Payment Schedule
- The cost per tour is a fixed price. Since the exchange rate, for instance the Euro or the British Pound, fluctuates on a daily basis, we ask you to go to the following sites for the daily rate of your country's currency versus the Canadian Dollar.

- 25% (twenty five percent) of agreed upon tour costs are due upon signing of the tour contract.
- The remaining 75% (seventy five percent) are due 42 days before the tour begins.
Tour Cancellation by a Client
- In case a client wishes to cancel a tour, the following amounts are non refundable to the client:
- 20% (twenty percent) of the agreed upon tour cost if cancelled 21 days before the tour begins.
- 35% (thirty five percent) of the agreed upon tour cost if cancelled 14 to 20 days before the tour begins.
- 75% (seventy five percent) of the agreed upon tour cost if cancelled 7 to 13 days before the tour begins.
- There will be no refund if a tour is cancelled less than 7 days before the tour begins.
Tour Cancellation by Touristik Kanada
- There will be a full refund in case Touristik Kanada should be forced to cancel a tour.
- This holds true for any and all possible reasons.
